Vaping - Is it Dangerous?

A question which has surrounded Vaping for a large portion of it's existence is that is it dangerous?

There has been various studies conducted into Vaping to see if it is safer than smoking Cigarettes. The answer to that question is YES.

Public Health England's latest report claims that the use E-cigarettes or 'Vaping' , as it is more commonly known to all of us Vapers, is 95% safer than smoking cigarettes. From this survey PHE concluded "vaping poses only a small fraction of the risks of smoking and switching completely from smoking to vaping conveys substantial health benefits". This is fantastic news for all Vapers, but also benefits all smokers looking for a successful and safe method to get off the cigs!

Now, you may ask, what about that 5%? That 5% could be due to the fact that more research needs to be carried out in order to push that number to 97% or even 99%. To get to 100, it may take some time. However, just because it is 95% percent healthier than smoking, vaping is not the same as breathing in fresh air. Don't be fooled into thinking that e-cigs are without risks or that you should now be able to vape to your heart's content. Or that they're plain healthy. Nicotine is still a chemical that our bodies are not make to ingest, so it does still carry some risks to your health. If you are a non smoker, it is advised not to take up Vaping if you have no desire to smoke.

That being said, E-cigarettes could be contributing to at least 20,000 successful new quits per year and possibly many more, E-cigarette use is associated with improved quit success rates over the last year and an accelerated drop in smoking rates across the country. The percentage of smokers in the UK has now fallen currently 15.5% in England! in 2013, it was 19%. That's a drop of 4% in just 5 years. In more simple terms, 2,662,800 people have quit smoking in that time. E-cigarettes are likely to have played a major hand in this fantastic achievement.

Therefore in conclusion it is safe to say that E-cigarettes are a valuable asset in the fight to quit smoking, and are not as dangerous as some may first think. If you are trying to quit smoking, I would highly recommend getting down to your local vape shop and speaking to them about how Vaping and E-cigarettes can help you to kick the habit!

As always, HAPPY VAPING!
